The first concert in the MWS' 40th Anniversary Season will open with the 2nd runner-up in our international fanfare competition, John Heins' Metropolitan Fanfare. You'll also hear conductor Lewis Buckley's arrangement of The Billboard March, Guy Woolfenden's beautiful Illyrian Dances, and Percy Grainger's classic Molly on the Shore. MWS Board President and founding member Leslie Hansen will guest conduct Leonard Bernstein's Danzon. Then, the entire second half of the program will be devoted to an unusual performance of Johan de Meij's Symphony No. 1: The Lord of the Rings. It is a special opportunity to hear this magnificent work in its entirety.
