Again, we open with a previous commission, Peter Schickele's "Metropolitan Wind Serenade". Then you'll hear the first of two soloists, a member of MWS, the winner of our Concerto Contest, to be held in the Fall. Honor the Founders is a march I was commissioned to write in honor of the founders of community bands like ours, all across America. Our second soloist will be Lisa Williamson, the mezzo soprano soloist with the U.S. Coast Guard Band, singing my Sandburg Reflections, an original setting of four Carl Sandburg poems. And finally, we'll close with four "satellites", chosen from Gustav Holst's beloved work, The Planets.
