MetWinds Announces Music Director Finalists for the 2019-2020 Season

MetWinds is pleased to announce the following finalists for the open position of Music Director / Principal Conductor. Each finalist will conduct a concert during the 2019-2020 season as well as the rehearsals which precede it. We look forward to working with each finalist, hopefully choosing one of them to be our new Music Director/ Principal Conductor — tenure to start in September 2020 for our 50th Anniversary season!

Richard Wyman: Fall Concert, October 27, 2019

Richard recently retired as the Assistant Director of the U.S. Coast Guard Band. He is currently the Administrative Director, Outreach Coordinator at Musical Masterworks and a clinician and guest conductor of school and honor festival ensembles.

Matthew Marsit: Holiday Pops, December 7, 2019

Matthew is currently the Chair of the Instrumental Studies Department and conducts the Boston Conservatory Wind Ensemble at Berklee. He is also the Music Director of the Charles River Wind Ensemble.

Matthew Westgate: Winter Concert, March 1, 2020

Matthew is currently the Director of Wind Studies at UMass Amherst where he conducts the UMass Wind Ensemble and UMass Symphony Band, teaches conducting, mentors graduate students, and coordinates the wind, brass and percussion program.

Eric Melley: Spring Concert, May 3, 2020

Eric is currently the Director of Instrumental Activities at Providence College, RI where he directs the Symphonic Winds, Jazz Ensemble, and oversees all aspects of the instrumental and instrumental music education areas.

Steven Lipsitt: Festival of Bands, June 13, 2020

Steven is currently the Music Director of the Bach, Beethoven, & Brahms Society Orchestra, Boston and a Guest Conductor/Clinician at New England Conservatory, Boston Conservatory, and Boston Arts Academy.
