Notes Crescendo is a reworking of the second movement of Symphony of Sounds Norway, Maine, so called because a major part of the composition was done in front of a small cabin there. The dedication is to the members of the composer's family.
Composer's Program Notes Joel Biddle studied composition with Mathew Colucci, Joseph Castaldo and at Tanglewood with Gunther Schuller. He was music director at WHYY radio and TV in Philadelphia . As producer of a syndicated radio program on contemporary music he was one of the last to interview Igor Stravinsky. He has had commissions from the Philadelphia Concerto Soloists and the Philadelphia Singers, and his music has been played in concerts and festivals in Europe, Africa, Israel and elsewhere.
