Metropolitan Wind Symphony 40th Season Fanfare Competition

The Metropolitan Wind Symphony is pleased to announce its 40th Season Fanfare Competition. The work shall be a fanfare commemorating the 40th season of the Metropolitan Wind Symphony. Up to four co-winners will be chosen among the entries. The winning fanfares will be premiered at Metropolitan Wind Symphony concerts during its 40th season, between November 2010 and July 2011. Those winning works and the composer's name will be listed in each case in the concert program, as well as on the MWS website. If the composer chooses to attend the concert where their fanfare will be performed, they will be recognized during the concert. With the permission of the composer(s), Cimarron Music Press, will publish the winning fanfares. A recording of the performance where the winning fanfare(s) are premiered will be provided to those composer(s). The composer will retain the rights to his or her composition.

Rules for Entries:

Duration:

    The work shall be 1 to 3 minutes in length.

Eligibility:

    There are no eligibility requirements except that the work may not have been previously performed, published, or professionally recorded. It must be an original work, and not a derivative of another work.

Instrumentation:

    Entries may be written for any combination of instruments commonly found in a concert band.

Materials requested:

    Score, parts, and a sound file of the submitted work are required. One work may be submitted per person.

Deadline for receipt:

    April 26, 2010

Return of materials:

    Materials will be returned if a self-addressed stamped envelope with sufficient postage is provided

Judging:

    The MWS will judge the competition.
